Middle School Teacher – 6th Grade (Homeroom)

The Pioneer Valley Christian Academy has an opening for a middle school teacher. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education is required along with a strong Christian testimony.

Spiritual Qualities

It is expected that the teacher will:

  • acknowledge Christ as Savior and seek to live life as His disciple;
  • believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God – our standard for faith and practice;
  • believe and actively support the school’s Statement of Faith (see Employment Application);
  • demonstrate a desire for spiritual growth as evidenced by his or her prayer life, Bible study, and spiritual outreach to others;
  • be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others (Luke 6:40);
  • sign and live by the school’s Lifestyle Statement (see Employment Application) as a condition for employment and continued employment in this ministry in regards to God’s Biblical standards for sexual conduct;
  • evidence the Fruit of the Spirit in dealing with people, and
  • participate in a local, Bible-believing church.

Education, Certifications and/or Experience

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (Education preferred)
  • ACSI Teaching Certificate
  • MA Teaching Certificate

First Grade Classroom Assistant


  • Born-again Christian
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • Effective with children


  • Develop a loving, but firm relationship with the students;
  • Assist with maintaining classroom management and order;
  • Assist the teacher during instruction, as directed;
  • Work with designated  students one-on-one or in groups, as directed;
  • Assist teacher in making copies, preparing for lessons, overseeing restroom time, organizing papers, keeping the classroom clean, etc;
  • Administer make-up tests, as directed;
  • Oversee school lunch orders;
  • Check backpack folders and insert/remove paperwork, notes, and money;
  • Bring students to any routine or special event and remain with them, as directed;
  • Develop a warm and respectful relationship with students’ parents;
  • Be committed to confidentiality regarding student and/or family information, and
  • Assist teacher in any appropriate additional ways, as directed.


Second Grade Classroom Assistant


  • Born-again Christian
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • Effective with children


  • Checking in homework/paperwork/folders at the start of each school day;
  • Periodically taking attendance and lunch count;
  • Correcting specific assignments on a regular basis;
  • Helping students one-on-one or in small groups when they require extra help or need to make-up work from having been absent;
  • Occasionally teaching the whole group so the teacher is able to meet with a small group or a student one-on-one for assessment or extra help;
  • Monitoring students, by walking around the room, during independent work to help with questions;
  • Helping to put up or take down bulletin boards, or prepping items for bulletin boards;
  • Prepping materials for lessons;
  • Copying homework packets, classroom worksheets, and other papers to communicate with home;
  • Filling folders for students each day with corrected work and communication to parents;
  • Helping to monitor children’s behavior based on classroom expectations in lines, in the classroom, in assemblies, and at chapel, and
  • Taking turns covering lunch or recess duty each day.
