Kindergarten & Grade One Reading Readiness

ATTENTION KINDERGARTEN AND GRADE ONE PARENTS

Kindergarten and first grade students are presently being evaluated by the Discovery Program Educational Therapists to determine who may be at risk for reading failure.

Using the SEARCH scan, the Educational Therapists assess students between the ages of 5 years and 6 years and 11 months for pre-reading skills.

Students who have at-risk score are offered a program called TEACH. This program directly addresses weaker skills and is designed to help prevent reading failure. A parent meeting will be scheduled to discuss students recommended for the TEACH program.
