Four middle school students had the privilege of participating in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery on the recent middle school Washington, DC trip. Gianna Arasin, Hannah DiMauro, Sam Shively, and Kyle Witherow represented Pioneer Valley Christian Academy in the ceremony honoring those who have fallen in service to our country. Prior to the trip, middle school students who were interested in participating in the ceremony submitted an essay explaining the significance of the ritual and why they wanted to participate. The essays were evaluated on content, spirit, and mechanics. The essays of the four individuals selected are below. We are proud of all our students and count it a privilege to be a part of this moving tribute.
