Internet Safety Presentation and Discussion Panel
Thursday, March 21, 7:00-8:30 PM
Technology is constantly evolving. Be in the know. Attend the Internet Safety Event at Pioneer Valley Christian Academy on Thursday, March 21, 7:00-8:30 PM. This event is for all parents and appropriate for students in grades five through twelve.
A representative from the District Attorney’s Office will give a thirty minute presentation regarding:
- An overview of the current apps that exist
- Safe use of specific apps
- Risky use of specific apps
How individuals can be exploited, bullied, or lured into unsafe or illegal behavior
- How predators can present themselves on social media
- How parents can monitor/manage social media activity and encourage safe media use
- What families should do if they suspect abuse or illegal activity taking place on social media and the importance of reporting it
After the presentation, students from the Youth Advisory Board will be available for questions.
Attention Grade Five and Grade Eight Parents
Sixth Grade Orientation
Tuesday, March 26, 7:00-8:00 PM
The Sixth Grade Orientation for fifth grade students and their parents will take place on Tuesday, March 26, at 7:00 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room.
This is a time to meet the middle school teachers as well as gain helpful information for next fall. Light refreshments will be provided, and every student who attends will receive a special gift.
Ninth Grade Orientation
Tuesday, March 26, 7:00-8:00 PM
The Ninth Grade Orientation for eighth grade students and their parents will take place on Tuesday, March 26, at 7:00 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room.
Please come and meet with Mrs. Jefson, our Guidance Counselor, the teachers, and Mr. Campolongo, our high school principal, as they share with you what to expect in high school. The program will explain the high school curriculum, review the requirements for earning a PVCA diploma, and how to enroll your student(s) in freshman classes.
Light refreshments will be provided, and every student who attends will receive a special gift.
Passport to Kindergarten
Parents of preschoolers scheduled to attend Kindergarten in the 2019-2020 academic year are invited to attend Pioneer Valley Christian Academy’s Passport to Kindergarten program. Parents will begin their morning with a continental breakfast with their preschooler in the PVCA cafeteria. Students will return to their classrooms at 8:45 AM. Parents will have the opportunity to sit in on an elementary chapel, observe a music, Spanish, and kindergarten lesson, and meet a variety of teachers. The program will commence with a light luncheon and presentation by Headmaster, Timothy Duff. To preregister for this event, contact Denise Richards at firstname.lastname@example.org.
