Enrollment at PVCA is perpetual, which assumes families intend to re-enroll for the upcoming school year. Given COVID-related occupancy constraints and a growing wait list of new families, we need to know how many current students are planning to return in order to reserve their seat for the 2021-2022 school year.
If your student is not planning to return to PVCA next year, you must notify the school in writing or by emailing our Business Manager, Jeffrey Lansner, at email@example.com on or before March 31 to avoid early withdrawal penalties.
MARCH 31 DEADLINE
“We praise God that the school has remained open with in-person instruction. I am sincerely grateful to our faculty and staff for their perseverance throughout these challenging times. We are encouraged by God’s faithfulness and look forward to the great things that He has in store for the future of the Academy. We covet your continued prayer for the upcoming school year.” – Timothy Duff, PVCA Headmaster
BLACK HISTORY MONTH
IN THE PVCA CLASSROOM
Every school day during the month of February, Mrs. Guarnera’s class reads a book related to Black History. Students also learn about Ruby Bridges and the courageous steps she took to break down segregation in schools.
“When [Ruby] went into the school, people were yelling at her and throwing things at her.”
“I don’t like the way they were bullying her.”
“[Segregation] means split apart.”
“Ruby Bridges changed the world.”
“Treat others the way you want to be treated.”
Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad is just one of the areas of Black History studied in Mrs. Russell’s third grade class. As an added activity, students create coded quilt patterns in representation of the quilts that were displayed on fences to alert escaped slaves of safe houses and the path to freedom.
“They hung the quilts on their fences to let the slaves know which way to go.”
“The quilts were there to make them safe.”
“Harriet Tubman was very brave. She saved others. She was free. She wanted to free others.”
“She was strong and wanted to save people from slavery. She figured out a way to help her parents by arranging horses and wagons.”
Black History Film Festival
High school students were given the choice to watch one of six movies based on individuals that made a significant impact on Black History. Students watched their choice of movie and then participated in a discussion with their peers.
PLANT SALE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Every year, members of the PVCA community come together to serve at the Academy’s largest fundraiser of the year, The PVCA Annual Plant Sale. This year’s plant sale is scheduled for Friday, May 7, and Saturday, May 8.
Volunteers are the most essential piece of making the plant sale a success, while this year’s sale may be very different from past sales, due to COVID-19 protocols, we still know we need people to fill key roles at critical times.
Please click on the link below and fill-out the form so we can begin planning the Plant Sale for 2021. Your commitment is crucial to our planning process.
