Job Description

Job Summary:
The Upper School Spanish teacher will teach Spanish courses to Upper School students from beginner to advanced levels, using the target language as the primary language of instruction and advancing student’s curiosity and knowledge of the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.

Reports to: Upper School Principal

Evaluation: Annual written evaluation conducted by the US principal

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university

Certifications: ACSI; Certified in Spanish Education (preferred).

Criteria: Beyond degree and certification requirements, the Spanish teacher will be a mature Christian with a solid understanding of and commitment to Christian education, a clear support of PVCA’s mission and vision, and a heart of service and humility towards coworkers, students, and families.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Effectively teach multiple levels of Spanish, from beginner to Advanced Placement.
2. Uses Comprehensible Input to prepare materials, write curriculum, and deliver lesson plans to meet the needs of individual students.
3. Encourage students to listen attentively, fully participate, and actively engage in the language learning process.
4. Conduct research on teaching methods, materials, and language activities appropriate for use in the classroom, staying current in developments of best professional practice for language learning.
5. Schedule and prepare students for oral and written assessments.
6. Teach students about Spanish culture, festivals, traditional food, fashion, and social conventions, helping them to cultivate an appreciation for Spanish-speaking cultures.
7. Organizing fun events where students can showcase their Spanish language skills.
8. Other responsibilities as required. (depending on the number of enrolled students, Spanish language courses may not be a full-time teaching load).

Pioneer Valley Christian Academy is a private, non-denominational Christian school in Springfield, Massachusetts serving preschool through grade twelve students. Founded in 1972, the Academy is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The mission of Pioneer Valley Christian Academy is to offer a thorough Christian education, based on the authoritative Word of God, with the ultimate goal of training students to love the Lord with all their heart, soul, and mind.

The Academy strives to provide a college preparatory, liberal arts curriculum, emphasizing Christian morals and ethics, and Christian standards of discipline and instruction. GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The daytime housekeeper must support the mission, philosophy, and vision of Pioneer Valley Christian Academy (PVCA). The daytime housekeeper must model Christian ideals and be committed to uphold high Christian standards, serving as a Christian role model (I Timothy 4:12) both in and out of school. The daytime housekeeper must be a born-again believer of Jesus Christ with spiritual maturity. The daytime housekeeper is responsible for supporting the Facilities Department in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the facilities rooms, furnishings, equipment, and entrances. The daytime housekeeper reports to the Director of Facilities.

REQUIRED SPIRITUAL QUALITIES

It is expected that the daytime housekeeper will:

· acknowledge Christ as Savior and seek to live life as His disciple.

· believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God—our standard for faith and practice.

· believe and actively support the Academy’s Statement of Faith.

· demonstrate a desire for spiritual growth as evidenced by his or her prayer life, Bible study, and spiritual outreach to others.

· be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others (Luke 6:40).

· sign and live by the school’s Lifestyle Statement and Declaration of Moral Integrity as a condition for employment and continued employment in this ministry in regard to God’s Biblical standards for sexual conduct.

· evidence of the fruit of the Spirit in dealing with people.

· share the Christian faith with others.

· actively participate in a local Bible-believing church.

PREFERRED PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES

It is expected that the daytime housekeeper will:

· have experience in housekeeping services.

· possess a high school diploma or GED.

· possess effective communication skills.

· have the ability to work collaboratively and constructively.

· possess organizational and time management skills.

· maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude in all situations.

· have the ability to stand for extended periods of time.

REQUIRED PERSONAL QUALITIES

It is expected that the daytime housekeeper will:

· have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train a child in the way he should go” (Prov. 22:6, NIV).

· be an enthusiastic visionary, an encourager, and a self-starter.

· understand the importance of discernment, discretion, and confidentiality.

· be committed to Christian education as evidenced by the enrollment of his or her own K-12 school-age children in PVCA.

· respectfully submit and be loyal to constituted authority.

· have the ability to multitask.

· use wise judgement and have the ability to work independently.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONCIBILITIES:

The daytime housekeeper will:

· work under the direction of the Director of Facilities performing cleaning and maintaining of the school building.

· perform work such as daily cleaning of floors, walls, windows, toilets, furniture, vacuums carpets, dry/wet mopping tile floors and other associated work.

· perform work that requires the ability to perform manual labor including emptying trash, occasional lifting and moving furniture, moving supplies and equipment and performs other related duties as requested.

· deliver supplies.

· prepare the building for authorized events.

· provide quality customer service for building users.

· report vandalism, mechanical malfunctions, broken windows, doors, and other building damage.

· aid in maintaining safe and effective building operations.

· maintain regular and punctual attendance.

· perform other duties as assigned.

· demonstrate effective and reliable work habits, including regular and punctual attendance, and shows a willingness to learn new work skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The daytime housekeeper position is physically demanding. The person must possess significant strength and physical ability to lift a minimum of, 50 pounds, stand for long periods of time, withstand heat, and perform all duties as assigned.

Educational Therapist

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Educational Therapist provides instruction and therapy to the assigned learning disabled students using the National Institute for Learning Development (NILD) model of intervention.

Reports to: Student Services Director

Evaluation: Annual written evaluation conducted by the Student Services Director

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university; advanced degree preferred

Certifications: ACSI; NILD Level I certification is required; pursuit of additional level of certification is expected.

Criteria: Beyond degree and certification requirements, the Educational Therapist will be a mature Christian with a solid understanding of and commitment to Christian education, a clear support of PVCA’s mission and vision, and a heart of service and humility towards coworkers, students, and families.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Conduct regularly scheduled educational therapy sessions as assigned and assign appropriate homework to meet student needs.
2. Conduct initial educational testing and write initial testing reports.
3. Employ those instructional aids, methods and materials that will provide for the individual program of the student.
4. Be responsible for management of assigned therapy station and materials.
5. Train the parents of each student in appropriate methods of assisting the student with his/her homework and Rhythmic Writing, conduct a parent reporting conference, and initiate and maintain ongoing communication with parents.
6. Maintain adequate records.
7. Request instructional materials needed for use in therapy.
8. Schedule monthly parent observations.
9. Attend and participate in scheduled faculty meetings and Discovery Program parent meetings.
10. Take advantage of opportunities that will improve professional development, such as graduate courses, seminars, and conferences.
11. Consult with classroom teachers regularly and make periodic observations of students.
12. Attend the regular classroom parent-teacher conference held in November.

 

Marketing Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Marketing Coordinator will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the Academy’s brand identity, ensuring alignment with our mission, vision, and core values. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of marketing expertise, social media management skills, and creative talents to effectively engage with our target audience.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field, from an accredited college/university

Additional Qualifications:

1. Beyond degree and certification requirements, the Marketing Coordinator will be a mature Christian with a solid understanding of and commitment to Christian education, a clear support of PVCA’s mission and vision, and a heart of service and humility towards coworkers, students, and families.

2. Proven experience in marketing, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting.

3. Proficiency in social media management and analytics tools.

4. Strong photography and videography skills.

5. Experience with video editing software (e.g., WeVideo, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).

6. Familiarity with website management platforms, particularly WordPress.

7. Ability to adapt to new technologies and tools, including the PVCA app.

8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

9. Creative thinker with a keen eye for detail and design.

10. Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.

11. Develop and design all print media materials, including brochures, flyers, posters, and event materials, to effectively communicate the Academy’s message and offerings.

12. Continuously evaluate and refine print media strategies to maximize impact and effectiveness.

13. Maintain a library of print media assets and templates for easy access and reuse.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Maintain and enhance the Academy’s brand identity, ensuring consistency across all communication channels.

2. Develop and implement strategies to promote the Academy’s mission, vision, and core values through various marketing initiatives.

3. Manage the Academy’s social media outlets, including content creation, scheduling, and community engagement.

4. Utilize and maintain an editorial calendar to plan and organize content effectively.

5. Experience with Meta Business Suite to optimize social media performance and analytics.

6. Capture high-quality photographs and videos to support marketing campaigns and initiatives.

7. Proficient in video editing to create engaging visual content for social media platforms.

8. Manage and update the Academy’s website, ensuring content accuracy, relevance, and user experience.

Librarian

Librarian

Job Description

 

Job Summary:

The Townsend library is utilized as a collaborative workspace for grades PreK-12 PVCA students, staff, and faculty. Grades K-5 teachers can sign up, as needed, for co-teaching in the areas of direct library instruction on a specific topic, curriculum extension activities, research of curriculum topics, book shares, STEM based activities that correlate to classroom experiences, or other agreed upon class instruction. Middle School and High School classes would have similar co-teaching opportunities to learn about researching, how to navigate websites for research, and computer use for curriculum related assignments. K-5 students have specified book check-out times as allocated by the librarian and agreed upon by the classroom teacher. Middle School and High School students check out books in their personal areas of interest or on specific topics.

Education/Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university; preference for library experience and/or training; willingness to pursue librarian qualifications.

 

Criteria: Beyond educational and professional requirements, the Librarian will be a mature Christian with a solid understanding of and commitment to Christian education, a clear support of PVCA’s mission and vision, and a heart of service and humility towards coworkers, students, and families.

 

Main Responsibilities: The Librarian will:

 

· Hold primary responsibility for the selection of books to be purchased and placed in the library. The librarian will assess the biblical worldview content of all materials and will seek to promote alignment with PVCA’s biblical worldview standard. Selected texts that do not align with PVCA’s vision and mission will be used for the purpose of discussing and understanding opposing worldviews.

· work collaboratively with classroom teachers to support the school-wide curriculum, choosing books that are specifically beneficial to units and lessons taught in the classrooms, and planning/scheduling library times with individual teachers.

· be assigned a budget for purchasing resources and will spend within the assigned budget, with administrator approval, and with all selection criteria in mind.

· read current literature in the field of library science and educational media. As needed, he/she will attend seminars, workshops, and college courses to stay abreast of current educational media, library science philosophies, and techniques.

· maintain proper discipline in the library and media center to enhance student learning, and plan and maintain library space conducive to studying and library activities.

· work with the administrative staff in planning and organizing library programs, library facility improvements, and library and media center acquisitions to meet the needs of staff and students.

· supervise the upper school students using the library for study hall, peer tutoring, or research activities.

· maintain a topical resource list in the library management system to reference curriculum related topics.

· assist students and staff in finding and checking out materials and equipment and will be available to teach library research skills to students.

· respond in a timely manner to parent or student requests for help or information.

· receive new media materials, enter data in the computer, print bar codes and spine labels through the library management system.

· display new book collections, visiting authors’ books, monthly themed materials and seasonal decorations, and make motivational displays of new books and special interest books.

· oversee and recommend policies for the use of the library media center.

· prepare overdue notices for classrooms, individual students, teachers, or parents as needed and will collect overdue books, and the cost of replacing lost or damaged books.

· oversee the library conference room availability.

· maintain the cleanliness of the tables and study areas in the library.

· perform any other duties that may be assigned by the administration.

· promote a school-wide reading culture through special programming and activities designed for students in the early childhood program, lower school, and upper school.
