Academic Principal

Job Description 

 

Job Summary: 

The PVCA Academic Principal is responsible for overseeing the academic operations of the school, including curriculum development, instructional practices, student achievement, teacher performance, and ensuring all educational programs align with established learning standards, while also maintaining a positive learning environment and fostering collaboration between staff, students, and parents.  

Reports to: Head of School (HoS) 

Evaluation: Annual written evaluation conducted by HoS. 

Certifications: ACSI and/or State Certification 

Mission Alignment: Beyond degree and certification requirements, the Academic Principal will be a mature Christian with an understanding of and commitment to Christian Education, a clear support of PVCA’s mission and vision, and a heart of service and humility towards coworkers, students, and families. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Curriculum Development and Instruction: 

  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the school curriculum to ensure alignment with state standards and best practices.  
  • Monitor classroom instruction to assess teacher effectiveness and provide feedback on instructional strategies.  
  • Promote innovative teaching methods and differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs.  

 

Student Achievement: 

  • Analyze student data to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.  
  • Set high academic expectations for all students and monitor progress towards achieving academic goals.  
  • Implement interventions and support systems for struggling students  

 

Teacher Leadership and Development: 

  • Contribute to the training and retaining of qualified teachers.   
  • Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for teachers to enhance their instructional skills  
  • Conduct teacher evaluations to assess performance and identify areas for growth  

 

School Leadership and Management: 

  • Collaborate with school leadership team to set strategic goals and priorities for the school. Work closely with the Lower School and Upper School Principals to advance the interest of academic programming in both programs.  
  • Manage the curriculum budget and allocate resources effectively  
  • Foster a positive school culture that promotes student engagement, collaboration, and respect  

 

Community Engagement: 

  • Build strong relationships with parents and guardians, actively communicating student progress and engaging them in the learning process  
  • Collaborate with community partners to provide additional support services for students  
  • Advocate for the school’s needs to stakeholders and the broader community  

 

Qualifications/Competencies: 

  • Master’s degree in education or a related field 
  • Valid teaching license and administrative certification 
  • Proven experience as a successful classroom teacher 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to manage a team 
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development and assessment practices 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff, and parents 
  • Data analysis skills to inform decision-making  
  • Servant leadership – leading by example and putting the needs of others first.  
  • Creative thinker and problem solver.

Upper School English Teacher

Job Description

 

Job Summary:

The Upper School English Teacher will teach language arts and/or literature courses to Upper School students from beginner to advanced levels, advancing students’ knowledge of reading, writing, and analyzing literature, while growing in their overall academic, writing, reading, and speaking skills.

Reports to: Upper School Principal

Evaluation: Annual written evaluation conducted by the US Principal; periodic observation and feedback.

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university

Certifications: ACSI and/or state certification; Secondary English Education (preferred).

Key Responsibilities:

· Effectively teach multiple levels of Upper School English courses, potentially from beginner level to Advanced Placement
· Prepare materials, write curriculum, and deliver lesson plans to meet the needs of individual students
· Encourage students to listen attentively, fully participate, and actively engage in the learning process
· Conduct research on teaching methods, materials, and activities appropriate for use in the classroom, staying current in developments of best professional practice for learning

 

Qualifications/Competencies:

· Strong command of the English language and literature
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans
· Strong organizational and time management skills
· Ability to work effectively with diverse students and families
· Bachelor’s degree in English or a related field
· Valid state teaching license

Student Services Director

Job Description 

 

Job Summary: 

The PVCA Student Services Director is responsible to lead and oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational therapy programs, ensuring students with learning differences receive effective, individualized support to enhance their academic and overall well-being.  

Key Responsibilities and Expectations: 

Program Leadership & Management: 

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate educational therapy programs, ensuring they align with student needs and best practices.  
  • Supervise and mentor educational therapy staff, providing guidance, training, and professional development opportunities.  
  • Manage budgets, resources, and schedules related to educational therapy services.  
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and other professionals to ensure effective communication and support for students.  
  • Liaise with school districts, testing services, etc., to meet the needs of our students.  

 

Student Support & Assessment: 

  • Conduct student assessments to identify learning strengths and challenges.  
  • Develop and implement individualized educational therapy plans based on student needs.  
  • Provide direct instruction and therapy to students, focusing on academic skills, learning strategies, and executive functioning skills.  
  • Monitor student progress and adjust therapy plans as needed.  
  • Advocate for students’ needs and ensure they receive appropriate accommodations and support.  

 

Collaboration & Communication: 

  • Serve as a liaison between the educational therapy program and other school departments, parents, and external agencies.  
  • Participate in meetings, conferences, and professional development activities to stay current with best practices in educational therapy.  
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress, IEPs, and other relevant information.  

 

Qualifications/Competencies: 

  • Master’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field.  
  • Certification in Educational Therapy (NILD).  
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.  
  • Experience working with students with learning differences.  
  • Knowledge of best practices in educational therapy and assessment.

Facilities Director

Job Description 

 

Job Summary: 

The PVCA Facilities Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the facility’s operations, including maintenance, repairs, cleaning, security, and capital improvements, ensuring the building is safe, functional, and compliant with regulations, while managing budgets, staff, and external contractors to optimize the facility’s efficiency and upkeep; essentially acting as one of the primary decision-makers, in collaboration with school administration, for all facility-related matters.  

Reports to: Head of School (HoS) 

Evaluation: Annual written evaluation conducted by HoS 

Criteria: Beyond professional experience and certification requirements, the Director of Facilities will be a mature Christian with a solid commitment to Christian education, a clear support of PVCA’s mission and vision, and a heart of service and humility towards coworkers, students, and families. 

Key responsibilities: 

Budget Management – Developing and monitoring the facility’s operational budget, including expenses for maintenance, repairs, utilities, vehicles, and contracts with vendors.  

Staff Supervision – Leading and managing a team of maintenance technicians, custodial staff, and other facility personnel, assigning tasks, and evaluating performance.   

Preventative/General Maintenance – Implementing and overseeing a comprehensive preventative maintenance program to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems. Managing the school’s Facilities and IT ticketing system to ensure that maintenance needs of staff are being met. 

Capital Projects – Managing large-scale renovation or construction projects, including planning, budgeting, contractor oversight, and project timelines.  

Compliance and Safety – Ensuring facility compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.  

Vendor Management – Negotiating contracts with external vendors for maintenance services, repairs, landscaping, and other facility needs.  

Emergency Response – Developing and implementing emergency response plans for situations like power outages, fire drills, and building damage.  

Facility Inspections – Regularly inspecting building systems, equipment, and grounds to identify maintenance needs and potential safety hazards. Scheduling and facilitating required inspections (fire alarm, fire extinguishers, etc.) 

Energy Management – Monitoring and optimizing energy consumption within the facility to reduce costs and promote sustainability.  

Reporting and Analysis – Providing regular updates to senior management on facility operations, budget status, and key performance indicators.  

 

Required skills and qualifications: 

Technical Knowledge – Strong understanding of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing), maintenance practices, and facility management principles.  

Leadership/Relational Skills – Proven experience in managing teams, assigning tasks, and motivating staff to achieve goals. Maintain positive working relationships with staff and faculty.  

Project Management Skills – Ability to plan, execute, and monitor complex construction or renovation projects.  

Budgeting Expertise – Experience in developing and managing facility budgets.  

Problem-Solving Skills – Capability to identify and troubleshoot facility issues, making timely decisions to address problems.  

Communication Skills – Excellent written and verbal communication to effectively interact with staff, contractors, and senior management.
