ELEMENTARY CURRICULUM
Students in grades 1-5 study Bible, language arts, spelling, mathematics, science, social studies, handwriting, and reading. They participate in Spanish, music, art, physical education, technology, and library classes at specified times outside of the regular classroom. The program has been designed with the developmental, spiritual, mental, emotional, and social needs of elementary age students in mind. As a result, Pioneer Valley Christian Academy uses a combination of research-supported resources that have been carefully vetted by teachers and provide opportunities for students to develop a strong academic foundation and a Christian worldview. In addition, the academic program is aligned with the Massachusetts Frameworks and the Next Generation Science Standards.

HISTORY
In Social Studies, students have the opportunity to explore topics that will help them develop an understanding of history, geography, and citizenship. Teachers use projects, readings, and activities to provide students with opportunities to reflect on events of the past, to consider their relationship to those events, and to contemplate how they should regard the world in which they live. Multiple resources support our curriculum including Scripture, traditional textbooks, videos, maps, picture books and novels, and primary sources.
