PVCA is excited to announce that we will be partnering with Houghton University to provide 11th and 12th grade students with an opportunity to take online dual enrollment courses. These classes will count as both high school and college credit and will be available to PVCA students at the greatly reduced price of $60 per credit. Students can take up to two Houghton University dual enrollment classes per semester, and they can even begin as early as this summer. The summer session starts May 13th. Current sophomores (rising juniors), juniors, and seniors are eligible to take classes this summer, and course registration for the summer session is available online now. Please note that Houghton University courses cannot replace PVCA-required courses, but they will count as electives and will be considered toward the total number of credits required for graduation. Houghton University credits can be used at Houghton University, or they can be transferred to most colleges and universities.

Houghton University is a Christian liberal arts college located in Western New York. Since 1883, they have been committed to providing a rigorous Christian education to young men and women. We are thankful that they have expanded their mission to include students attending private Christian schools, and we hope that our students will be able to get a head start on college and save money through this program.

To register for summer classes, please visit the Houghton University Partner page at the website linked below. There, you will find a list of available courses, and as you scroll down, you will see a gold bar that says “Register Today.” Follow the simple prompts to register for the class you plan to take. Once your registration is received and verified, you will get a confirmation email from Houghton.

Students who elect to take Houghton University courses during the school year will be scheduled to a designated, supervised location where they can work on their courses during the school day in the presence of a PVCA faculty member who can provide support as needed.

There will be more information about this program forthcoming, and we are working to schedule a parent meeting where a Houghton representative will be available to answer questions. But since summer registration is open and courses fill up, we wanted to make sure you had this information as quickly as possible. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Lindsay Witherow at lwitherow@pvcama.org or PVCA’s guidance counselor, Meredith O’Hara at mohara@pvcama.org.
