Upper School Principal Job Description

General Description

The mission of Pioneer Valley Christian Academy is to, “equip students to know Truth, pursue academic excellence, and live with integrity.” The upper school Principal role is tasked with the responsibility to see that the mission is carried out in the upper school and to ensure that all staff are working towards the same vision.

The Upper School Principal is appointed by and reports directly to the Head of School. He/She will be responsible for the supervision of the daily operation of the middle and high schools. This supervision will be in accordance with the stated philosophy and policies of the school, as established by the board of directors. The Head of School will evaluate the performance of the principal regularly and annually. The principal will work with the faculty and staff in providing spiritual leadership and in developing and maintaining a curriculum that meets the needs of the students, the requirements of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the desires of the administration.

Job Requirements:

It is expected that the Upper School Principal will:

· Acknowledge Christ as Savior and live as His disciple, demonstrating a desire for spiritual vitality in his/her prayer life, in Bible study, and in spiritual outreach to others,

· Be an active member and participant in a local Bible-believing church.

· Hold to PVCA’s statement of faith and lifestyle statement.

· Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others (Luke 6:40), exemplifying the fruit of the Spirit in dealing with people (Galatians 5:22-23).

· Hold a master’s degree from an accredited postsecondary institution or be willing to complete a degree within a specified time-period.

· Hold an ACSI standard certificate.

· Demonstrate a reasonable level of computer literacy, having a basic proficiency in word processing, creating and using a spreadsheet, e-mailing, and accessing the Internet.

· Have relevant experience in Christian education, in leadership positions, and in working with students and families.

· Be an enthusiastic visionary, an encouraging leader, and a motivated self-starter with a high standard and personal expectation of excellence.

· Communicate effectively and demonstrate sensitivity toward staff, parents, volunteers, and students.

· Understand the importance of discernment, discretion, and confidentiality in the operation of the academy.

· Respectfully submit to the authority of the Board of Directors and Head of School.

Part-time Housekeeping Position

General Description

 4 hours/day, School days only

Job Details:

Pay: Based on experience

Job type: part-time, school days only

Shift and schedule: Monday – Friday when school is in session, 10AM – 2PM (flexible)

Pioneer Valley Christian Academy is a private, non-denominational Christian school in Springfield, Massachusetts serving preschool through grade twelve students. Founded in 1972, the Academy is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The mission of Pioneer Valley Christian Academy is to offer a thorough Christian education, based on the authoritative Word of God, with the ultimate goal of training students to love the Lord with all their heart, soul, and mind.

The Academy strives to provide a college preparatory, liberal arts curriculum, emphasizing Christian morals and ethics, and Christian standards of discipline and instruction. The Academy desires that students learn the relevance of Christianity to our culture. It aspires to graduate students who are spiritually, academically, physically, and socially mature and prepared to invest their lives influencing society for the glory of God.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The daytime housekeeper must support the mission, philosophy, and vision of Pioneer Valley Christian Academy (PVCA). The daytime housekeeper must model Christian ideals and be committed to uphold high Christian standards, serving as a Christian role model (I Timothy 4:12) both in and out of school. The daytime housekeeper must be a born-again believer of Jesus Christ with spiritual maturity. The daytime housekeeper is responsible for supporting the Facilities Department in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the facilities rooms, furnishings, equipment, and entrances. The daytime housekeeper reports to the Director of Facilities.

REQUIRED SPIRITUAL QUALITIES

It is expected that the daytime housekeeper will:

· acknowledge Christ as Savior and seek to live life as His disciple.

· believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God—our standard for faith and practice.

· believe and actively support the Academy’s Statement of Faith.

· demonstrate a desire for spiritual growth as evidenced by his or her prayer life, Bible study, and spiritual outreach to others.

· be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others (Luke 6:40).

· sign and live by the school’s Lifestyle Statement and Declaration of Moral Integrity as a condition for employment and continued employment in this ministry in regard to God’s Biblical standards for sexual conduct.

· evidence of the fruit of the Spirit in dealing with people.

· share the Christian faith with others.

· actively participate in a local Bible-believing church.

PREFERRED PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES

It is expected that the daytime housekeeper will:

· have experience in housekeeping services.

· possess a high school diploma or GED.

· possess effective communication skills.

· have the ability to work collaboratively and constructively.

· possess organizational and time management skills.

· maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude in all situations.

· have the ability to stand for extended periods of time.

REQUIRED PERSONAL QUALITIES

It is expected that the daytime housekeeper will:

· have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train a child in the way he should go” (Prov. 22:6, NIV).

· be an enthusiastic visionary, an encourager, and a self-starter.

· understand the importance of discernment, discretion, and confidentiality.

· be committed to Christian education as evidenced by the enrollment of his or her own K-12 school-age children in PVCA.

· respectfully submit and be loyal to constituted authority.

· have the ability to multitask.

· use wise judgement and have the ability to work independently.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONCIBILITIES:

The daytime housekeeper will:

· work under the direction of the Director of Facilities performing cleaning and maintaining of the school building.

· perform work such as daily cleaning of floors, walls, windows, toilets, furniture, vacuums carpets, dry/wet mopping tile floors and other associated work.

· perform work that requires the ability to perform manual labor including emptying trash, occasional lifting and moving furniture, moving supplies and equipment and performs other related duties as requested.

· deliver supplies.

· prepare the building for authorized events.

· provide quality customer service for building users.

· report vandalism, mechanical malfunctions, broken windows, doors, and other building damage.

· aid in maintaining safe and effective building operations.

· maintain regular and punctual attendance.

· perform other duties as assigned.

· demonstrate effective and reliable work habits, including regular and punctual attendance, and shows a willingness to learn new work skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The daytime housekeeper position is physically demanding. The person must possess significant strength and physical ability to lift a minimum of, 50 pounds, stand for long periods of time, withstand heat, and perform all duties as assigned.
